I am an aspiring PhD student interested in how social media sites impact people’s perceptions of privacy, what kind of information is private, and how people negotiate privacy in their “online lives” compared to “real life.” I currently attend the University of Illinois, Urbana - Champaign, where I am pursuing my MS in Library & Information Science, and hold a Bachelor of Arts in the fields of History and Religious Studies from Beloit College.
I have taken a wide variety of courses on the intellectual, cultural, and political history, as well as courses in law, business research, java programming, and web design. My general research interests span political communication, social networking technologies, public discourse, history of information, history emotions, information privacy, history of communication, public humanities, and religion in America.
Outside of my studies, I work as an Information Specialist in a corporate setting. I enjoy spending my time trying new restaurants and exploring Chicago. I have an extensive addiction to hot beverages, and am very committed to the value of sharing meals with others as a way to build relationships. Please look around my website for more information on my work, interests, and how to get in touch. I look forward to starting a conversation!
second.city.girl is a social & lifestyle blog on living and working in Chicago. I try some great restaurants, talk about things going on in the city, and occasionally write about my trips and adventures elsewhere. If you're interested in all things Chicago, check it out!
